French Connection

Daniel Delmas is a French Engineering Executive noted for inventing the world’s first electric pruning shears in 1984 using a rotating cam blade drive system.  He calls it the ELECTROCOUP and as of the year 2022, Infaco is producing a 9th generation model of the original product.  The company markets their tools exclusively through licensed dealerships.

As with most power tools, a generic search for electric pruning shears on Amazon will produce a long list of options to choose from that will lead to a lot of scrolling and guessing.  Consider @outdoordimes to be a shortcut to find Amazon’s best customer reviewed products based on the specific category that you have in mind.

Anvil Pruners. With a sharp blade on top crushing down against a grooved anvil base on the bottom, this type of pruning shears cuts through dry brittle branches efficiently by forcing them to snap before the blade cuts all the way through.

Bypass pruners are constructed with two sharp blades that slide past one another similar to scissors. They are ideal for pruning live branches to promote growth and prevent disease by making clean precise cuts.
